Bacon Wrapped Turkey Balls

Makes 12 Meatballs

If you wrap pretty much anything in bacon it's going to taste good and these meatballs are no exception.  Paired with a fluffy cauliflower mash they make a perfectly Healthylicious low carb dinner.


  1. Heat a frying pan or skillet with a teaspoon of olive oil and sauté the onion for 4 minutes until it is soft.
  2. Transfer the onions to a bowl and allow to cool completely.
  3. In a second bowl add the egg, tomato puree, pepper, garlic, turmeric and sage and whisk it all together.
  4. Add the cooled onions and stir them in.
  5. Add the turkey mince, parmesan and bread crumbs and with clean hands massage all the ingredients together.
  6. Form the turkey mixture into balls.
  7. Lay out 2 strips of bacon in a cross formation, place a couple of chives on the bacon and a turkey meatball at the centre.
  8. Wrap the bacon over the meatball to form a parcel.
  9. Preheat your oven to 200C
  10. Heat a frying pan to medium high with 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
  11. Fry each ball on each side for a minute.
  12. Transfer the balls to a baking dish and put them in your hot oven for 15 minutes, turn them over and bake for another 15 minutes.
  13. Serve with cauliflower mash.

You will need:

400 grams of turkey mince

24 strips of streaky bacon

1 beaten egg

½ cup of grated parmesan

¼ cup of bread crumbs (I use gluten free)

¼ cup of chives

1 tablespoon of tomato puree

1 tablespoon of dried sage

1 teaspoon of turmeric

1 teaspoon of garlic granules

½ teaspoon of black pepper

1 medium white onion finely diced

Olive oil for frying
